The Lutheran School Advantage

Research* indicates those who attend Lutheran schools......

  • Display more Biblical knowledge
  • Less swayed by their peers
  • Less anxious about their faith
  • Recognize experience with God in their personal lives
  • Consistently believe in the divinity of Jesus
  • Understand salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone
  • Engage in a fuller devotional life
  • Witness more to others about Christ
  • Balanced theologically (not liberal, not ultraconservative, but a balanced conservatism)
  • Aware of the Trinity in one's whole life
  • Give higher value to relationships with God and other persons
  • Show reasonable respect for authority
  • Stronger tendencies to be forgiving and personally forthright with other people
  • Avoid over-simplistic views (i.e. Views of social issues as mere power struggles)

The research also proved that the more years a person attended a Lutheran school, the more significant the difference became. The research does not indicate that these same qualities cannot be present in individuals who have not attended a Lutheran elementary and/or secondary school. but it is less likely.  Similarly, it is recognized that the power to lead a Christian life is a free gift of the Holy Spirit working through the Word.

Welcome from our Pastor

Pastor_Nelson

Blessings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!  I hope as you seek to understand St. John Lutheran School you’ll discover all that the Lord is doing here. I hope it will become evident that we love God, we love children, and we want children to love God.

As Pastor of St. John Lutheran School, I’m reminded every day that our school exists for a simple purpose: to prepare children to courageously serve Christ and their neighbor.  We do that by gathering kids into the presence of Jesus Christ because it is there that each student understands his or her place in the world according to God’s most gracious will.

St. John’s fine teachers guide each student into this reality by infusing the story of God into each part of the curriculum. By stressing God’s story in weekly chapels, daily theology classes, and all subject area lessons, then practically applying that narrative to life, St. John defines excellence in terms of leading the student in the ways of Christ.

I would love to meet with you to talk about more about how Jesus Christ is using St. John to share His gifts to this community.

Serving you in Christ,

Pastor Marcus Nelson
